The Rayson estate is rooted in a truly unique landscape, primarily composed of Tomlin and Oak Level Loam soils.
While these soils are not traditionally known for their fertility, they provide an exceptional foundation for cultivating premium wine grapes. In the world of fine winemaking, challenging soils often produce the most remarkable fruit. By naturally limiting vine vigor and encouraging deeper root systems, these conditions allow grapes to develop greater concentration, character, and complexity.
With vines now approaching a quarter of a century in age, the Rayson estate tells a story of resilience and perseverance. Having weathered decades of changing seasons and challenging weather conditions, these deeply established vines have adapted to their environment, reaching far into the earth for essential nutrients. Year after year, they continue to produce exceptional fruit that reflects the distinctive character of the land and the enduring spirit of Rayson Winery & Vineyards.

Varietals on the Rayson Winery and Vineyards’ 50-acre vineyard site include:
- Riesling
- Viognier
- Chardonnay
- Vidal Blanc
- Rkatsiteli
- Cabernet Franc
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Merlot
- Petit Verdot
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Tannat
- Albariño
- Pinot Blanc

From the richness of our land to the character of our grapes, every vine tells the story of our estate.

Our Story: A New Chapter in the Yadkin Valley.
We believe our estate is a true crown jewel of North Carolina’s Yadkin Valley AVA. Since opening our doors on December 2, 2023, Rayson Winery & Vineyards has represented an exciting new chapter in our family’s passion for exceptional winemaking and hospitality.
As the first expansion of our sister winery, JOLO Winery & Vineyards, Rayson was born from JW and Kristen Ray’s vision to bring their passion for world-class wines, exceptional cuisine, and genuine hospitality to another extraordinary destination in North Carolina wine country.
With established vineyards, breathtaking estate views, and a distinctive sense of place, we are proud to offer an experience that is uniquely Rayson. Our focus on premium wines, including exceptional single-varietal offerings, reflects our dedication to showcasing the character and potential of our remarkable terroir.
In May 2024, we introduced Bistro Europa, our full-service restaurant, further enhancing the estate experience by bringing chef-crafted cuisine and award-winning wines together in perfect harmony. From our elegant indoor dining room to our picturesque veranda featuring a beautiful stone fireplace, every detail is designed with our guests in mind.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains simple: to craft exceptional wines, create unforgettable experiences, and welcome every guest as an extension of our family. We look forward to sharing the beauty, passion, and spirit of Rayson Winery & Vineyards for generations to come.
